What happened next, however, would turn her promising Hollywood story into one of the entertainment world\u2019s most tragic cases.<\/p>\n

Her name was Dorothy Stratten.<\/p>\n

Born in Vancouver, Canada, in 1960, Dorothy worked part-time at a Dairy Queen while she was still in school. She had never grown up dreaming of becoming a Hollywood celebrity, and those who knew her described her as reserved and soft-spoken.<\/p>\n

Everything changed in 1977, when she met Paul Snider, an older man who immediately noticed her beauty and saw an opportunity in her.<\/p>\n

Snider encouraged Dorothy to pursue modeling and eventually became deeply involved in both her personal and professional life. What initially appeared to be a path toward a glamorous future would later become increasingly troubling.<\/p>\n

Dorothy\u2019s career began moving quickly. In 1979, she was selected as Playboy\u2019s Playmate of the Month. The following year, she reached an even greater milestone when she was named Playmate of the Year.<\/p>\n

Dorothy was only 20 years old.<\/p>\n

Later that night, two of Snider\u2019s roommates went to check on the couple. What they discovered was a devastating scene: both Dorothy and Snider were dead.<\/p>\n

Authorities concluded that Snider had killed Dorothy before taking his own life.<\/p>\n

The young woman who had seemed destined for a long Hollywood career was suddenly gone.<\/p>\n

Her death sent shockwaves through Hollywood and left behind a story filled with questions about fame, control, jealousy and the dangers she had faced behind the scenes.<\/p>\n
