Milia are tiny, keratin-filled cysts that develop just beneath the surface of the skin.
They occur when dead skin cells become trapped instead of naturally shedding away.
What Causes Milia?
When dead skin cells accumulate beneath the skin, they can harden and trap keratin, creating small, firm bumps. Milia usually appear as tiny white or yellowish spots and can sometimes be flesh-colored.
They are often mistaken for small pimples because of their appearance, but unlike acne, they are not typically caused by clogged pores or infection.
